These Terms of Service govern your use of SkillSwap — a peer-to-peer skill exchange platform. Please read them carefully before creating an account. By using SkillSwap you agree to be bound by these terms.
By creating a SkillSwap account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use SkillSwap. We may update these terms from time to time — continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
You must be at least 13 years old to use SkillSwap. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent. By using the platform you represent that you meet these requirements and that all information you provide is accurate.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. You may not share your account with others or use another person's account. Notify us immediately at support@skillswap.io if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
Mentors are solely responsible for the accuracy of their skill listings and the quality of sessions they deliver. SkillSwap does not verify credentials, qualifications, or background checks unless explicitly stated. Learners are responsible for evaluating mentors before booking. All sessions must comply with applicable laws and our Community Guidelines.
Paid sessions are processed via Stripe. SkillSwap charges a 10% platform fee on all paid bookings. Payouts to mentors are processed within 7 business days after session completion. Refunds may be issued at SkillSwap's discretion in cases of mentor no-show or platform error. Disputed payments are handled per Stripe's dispute resolution process.
Skill swap agreements are voluntary exchanges between users. SkillSwap is not responsible for ensuring swap agreements are fulfilled. Credits purchased on the platform have no cash value and cannot be refunded except where required by law.
You agree not to: post false, misleading, or fraudulent listings; harass, abuse, or threaten other users; use the platform for illegal activities; attempt to circumvent payment by conducting sessions off-platform; scrape, reverse-engineer, or misuse the platform; or upload content that violates third-party intellectual property rights.
Sessions may be recorded with the consent of all participants. Recordings are stored securely and accessible only to session participants for 30 days. AI-generated summaries and transcripts are created automatically after sessions. By using these features you consent to processing of session audio by our AI provider (OpenAI) per their data processing agreements.
You retain ownership of content you post on SkillSwap (profiles, skill descriptions, messages). By posting content you grant SkillSwap a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and distribute that content on the platform. You may not post content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or our Community Guidelines. You may delete your account at any time via Settings. Upon termination, your data will be removed within 30 days except where retention is required by law.
SkillSwap is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for the quality, accuracy, or outcomes of any skill sessions. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SkillSwap's total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to SkillSwap in the 12 months preceding the claim.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which SkillSwap is incorporated. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except where prohibited by law. You waive any right to participate in class-action lawsuits against SkillSwap.
